Our Story

A French person might state that the reason I decided to settle in the Provence is évident. Of course someone with a name like Perrin would want to do a "retour aux sources" - a return to my roots. The name Perrin is among the oldest and most common French names and my roots can be largely traced back to France. There are other reasons, however, that motivated my decision to leave a successful real estate/teaching/mediation career in Utah to move body and soul to France and become an innkeeper.

One of my primary motivations was the desire to be closer to my daughter, Julie Perrin Halot and her family who live just outside of Grenoble. Beyond that is a desire to step out of established patterns and a 35-year career to try something entirely new and different.

Julie and I were visiting the Provence in Autumn 2000, when I suddenly had the realization that I could live in France and that the Provence was the landscape and lifestyle that I wanted. Out of that grew the idea of becoming an innkeeper and sharing my home and passion for the Provence with guests.

All that can be done ---and more---will be done to make your stay at Le Lavandin a wonderfully unique and unforgettable experience.
